Sentry Circle camping is one of my favourites stops in the UK so far. Located a few miles east of Northallerton it offers cheap overnight accomodation but covers all the basics. The current price for myself in a motorhome with a dog is £10 a night (June 2024).
The site offers fresh water, hot showers, toilets and a washing up area. Parking is simple. park where you want. Even better are arrival and departure times, arrive when you want and leave when you want. The site allows raised firepits or BBQ’s. Firepits are available to use (not sure if there is a fee) and logs are available at a small cost.
For those wanting to glamp it up a bit, they also offer several glamping pods, more details available on the Sentry Circle Camping Website.
The times I have been here it has been quite quiet, and its suits my dog perfectly, as he is just free to roam around and meet up with his mate (the owners dog). I do believe they hold events such as music festivals etc on occassion, so the dog roaming may not be ideal then.
The ground is on a slope so levelling ramps do come in handy. There are no electric hookup points that i am aware of, however I’ve coped fine with my solar panel and Ecoflow river 2. The ecoflow is only needed as I have to power some devices off mains to be able to work remotely.
The owner and other people I have spoken to here have all been very friendly and welcoming. There is a small shop on site offering basics, open from 11 – 1 every day. They also do a communal bonfire every so often but I haven’t experienced that yet.
In short this is the ideal site, if your on a budget or wanting to get back to basics.
