Finchale Abbey Touring Park Durham

I knew about Finchale Abbey Touring Park for a few reasons. One being that as a teenager I stayed here back in 1986 or so with a few friends. However I also worked at the prison at the top of the road for over 20 years.

The site boasts all the facilities that you would expect e.g. toilets, showers, fresh water etc. Tee shower block has been very clean all the times that I have stayed here. The site also boasts a little shop, selling a range of items plus some take-a-way food and hot beverages. For those who like a bit of history the Abbey ruins are also available to view onsite.

Running through the site is the river wear and fishing is available. There are also a selection of walks available along the river.

The price for myself and a dog in a motorhome has been £27 a night (June 2024). Booking is made very simple via their website. You will receive a selection of emails confirming the booking and providing access codes for the site barrier and shower block.

Levelling ramps are required for many of the pitches. Mobile signal on o2 and 3 were good and gave good data coverage. There are a fair few birds (ducks etc) wandering around the site, so dogs need to be kept on a lead.

Tv signal was good, without even raising the aeriel. So my tv worked without fault. As the price to stay also includes electric hookup, it was a good chance to recharge my Ecoflow River 2. I will hopfully get round to writing a review on the Ecoflow in the near future.
