The Green Tree Tudhoe County Durham

The Green Tree is another pub stop well worth considering. Located at Tudhoe in county Durham. Within easy public transport reach of durham city.

I phoned in advance to check their was a space for my motorhome, and all was good. After staying there it was apparent that there were another 3 motorhomes staying that night. This included a lovely couple from Lincoln and a family in 2 motorhomes from holland.

The car park was a good size. It was also very flat so no need for the ramps. Phone signal on both 3 and o2 was good. Allowing a good data connection on both. TV signal was also good without extending the aeriel. So my 12v TV performed well.

The choice of beer, lager and IPA was very good. I think I sampled 6 of them, just to do a thorough test. Spirits wise was a bit limited when I asked for Hendricks or Grey Goose. But at the end of the day it is a small county pub to be fair.

Parking was free when spending money in the pub, so always a good deal. Food wise I went for the Mac n Cheese with pulled pork. It came out looking good and smelled good. At a mere £14 it was also a good deal. The downside it looked better than it tasted. It was ok, but not great. I seemed to end up with a taste of oil in my mouth afterwards. I’m also fairly sure it had been prepared by Chef Microwave. But at the price it wouldn’t be a deal breaker for another stay. Saying that, I would try a different dish though.

Staff and locals were lovely, as were the other people in motorhomes. Pub is dog friendly and several pooches were in the beer garden. Car park may be a bit too quiet, as I over slept, getting up at 10am. The pub also sells a few essentials, such as milk, bread and eggs.

Pints of ale etc were in the £5 range, which is failry standard in this neck of the woods as we say up here. In short I would recommend everything about this stop, with the possible exception of the Mac n Cheese.
